Myths of the magical mermaid go back thousands of years. They are known as the beautiful beings of the sea. Half fish, half human.
The tail of this aquatic lady originated in Assyria, but is also influenced by sirens that come from Greek mythology. Sirens are rather wicked creatures that sing to sailors passing by, hypnotizing them as that would often cause shipwrecks. Sounds like fun.
This mythology is all over the globe, and to this day, we are still captivated by mermaids. Quite possibly it's because we share similarities on the top half. Anyone can easily become merfolk! Just need to throw on a fish tail and voila!
